Hi Charlie and Peter,Not wishing to contradict what others have said but the RE 3 was made in 88 and "the snowman"recorded in 87,I had one of these and couldn't find it useful for anything Hank related,I read years ago that someone from arbiter said Hank told him it was the RE 3, I think the 01 got left out somewhere along the line. regards gary

Hi Tim,I wouldn't know the timings but I think 3 different echo types were used and panned differently on the recording.I always thought one echo was added at certain times in the song as opposed to being there constantly,Perhaps Charlie can elaborate? regards gary

I remember filling out a spec sheet and I asked the shop owner a question,"If the materials are the same then what's the difference between a teambuilt and a masterbuilt ?" the answer was "about £2000" and he laughed...I replied "so I'm paying £2000 for a set up" he laughed even more so I said "just give me a pack of Ernie ball 10s"

Some of the shops have dealer select strats where they've already picked the specs, jumbo frets, flatter radius, and so on....starts about £3500-£4000 for a masterbuilt,at least you can play them before parting with your cash. One way to save that sort of money is to YouTube the custom shop, they'll bore you to death in about 5 mins.

Hi Mike, the process usually takes 6-9 months, they ask that it's ordered through a diamond dealer paying half up front, last I heard it was about £7k for a masterbuilt strat to your specs,it was £4k about 10 yrs ago,It's built by 1 master builder and he will even email you as part of the price.....regards gary

Hi Peter,Others will probably have more info on the black strat so I'll add my little bit,Originally bought as a sunburst around 1972/3 it was sprayed black, fitted with Gibson humbucker and fender widerange pickups and toggle switch, hardware also gold plated...then changed pickups back to stock except dimarzio fs1 at the bridge, used on recordings up until 84 (guardian angel) then gave the guitar to his son Ben who put a rosewood neck on it about 20 yrs ago.If anyone knows more please add to it. regards gary

Hi Mike,Another factor with dull wound thirds is at the nut slot not being wide enough,I noticed this on a strat while playing it unplugged,it seemed to need more room to vibrate freely ,I also had a habit of setting the action a little low which is OK on certain guitars but not a strat. regards gary

Hi Bor, well...it beats debating the fiesta red thing, I'm sure Paul can put us out of our misery,I'm not saying they're not gold sperzels, I'm saying they look chrome in photos, I'm talking about the one he used mostly with the darker neck.the first sig he used in 1990 had a much brighter neck and gold satin sperzels,so its not that one.I'd say this one surfaced around 1992, regarding Arbiter,to my knowledge they only ever replaced the neck on 1 of them, that's the one he uses on riders at the countdown concerts, and they also set up his guitars from the mid 90s to that period. regards gary
