Hi Joe,It might be a good idea to ask fenderplucker about the gold tuners on Hanks main strat as he might know,Even from the early 90s the tuning posts look chrome while the nuts on the front of the headstock look gold in almost every photo on the net,the cover of heartbeat album for example,It's possible that they're Schaller rather than sperzel,2 of his sig strats from 09 were definitely gold sperzels. I'll just mention that I have gold (satin) tuners on a strat and the tuning posts are a different colour to the nuts on the headstock. regards gary

Hi Joe,Fender don't seal the headstock decals on the nos range so you shouldn't have a problem replacing/removing them ,might be a good idea to not seal or lacquer over the HM one. regards gary

Hi,when the push/pull pot is not activated it should give normal pickup selection,it's possible that the pot is acting as a blend with the bridge p/up so if you turn the pot one way or another you should find out.Soundwise..you should expect the same sound Hank got when he used Kinmans,I think most agree that fender pickups will get you closer to the old sound, Hope this helps..Regards Gary

Thanks Gary. Can I ask how you came by the info? Again, just curious Regards, Mike. Hi Mike, I met Hank in 89,90,and 2000, One of the many questions I asked was about the Hits Right Up Your Street album, 3 strats were used,2 AC30s and Roland 301 purchased at time of polydor album deal ,(during change of address album) .1 of the strats were strung gauge 9 strings also used on XXV album ,hope this helps...regards .Gary

I don't see what all the fuss is about,to me anyway..the sound is clean, possibly played on light/slinky strings. It sort of reminds me of that CD by The Apaches, Anyone else have that CD ? Regards Gary

Hi Noel,my betes noires used to be classical gas ,one day I watched Glen Campbell on YouTube play it and it inspired me to learn it properly, very challenging and well worth it even though I forget some of the tune now.

Forgot to mention that fender base the 57/62 pickups off a 63 strat according to the information on the box they come in,yet they put them in 57 reissues for years...it's all very subjective stuff...

Like most of us,I've tried all the fender pickups and yes some are warmer than others, hank first used the strat on cliffs 2nd album and sounds very similar to cs54s,same thing with Bruce using it for rythmn all these years, maybe the magic was in the meazzi and vox amps, Regards Gary

Off topic but Id like to see a new album, theres no reason why he couldnt knock out 6 tunes on the strat and 6 on the coffee and croissants guitar ! LOL (in french) of course, but seriously I think he would have to asked by a record company to do this, the main thing is he still plays and he always says "never say never" regards to all.. gary

Theres so many versions of the AC30 that you sometimes wonder what people are talking about,Brian May and Rory Gallagher had booster pedals for their signature sound, still..a good read for an iconic amp. regards gary

Hi Derek, If theyre brand new in the box the only way of knowing is by the length of the wire on them, with the neck pickup having the longest and the bridge with the shortest, I dont think the CS 54s are colour (red dot or blue dot) coded and the middle p/up is not reverse wound. hope this helps regards gary

Hi Derek, to give you an idea, Fender put 250k pots and a .1uf capacitor in their custom shop models,54 p/ups are bright and clear so tone control on the bridge p/up is a good idea, you can experiment with other pots/cap values but theyll probably make the sound a little brighter. hope this helps..gary

Hi Tim,As far as I know its 2 separate guitar tracks plus an acoustic guitar track, 1 guitar track is a leslie rotary sound through a marshall amp,the other guitar track is a marshall bluesbreaker pedal through a fender twin and a 50ms delay was added. hope this helps, regards gary

Hi Brian,It would be suitable for Shads stuff, the bridge pickup is slightly hotter than middle and neck but you can adjust the tone controls to suit, Fender did make the pickups to suit the delta tone mod but the mod itself isnt all that, it just removes the cap from the circuit making it sound a little sharper. hope this helps......gary

Hi Mike B, I think Hank's style is most of the reason for his tone. I've seen at close range how his style makes the echoes seem to sustain a lot longer, so much so that the echo feedback had to be reduced for some tunes. Regards, Charlie Hi Charlie,Looking at Hanks technique,Ive noticed he is very good at hiding the echo pattern by using the tremelo arm,on slow songs he hits most notes upwards with the pick, on this tune for example, do you remember what patch he used on the Q20 for this? kind regards gary

Hi all, I noticed the jeff daniels BT is close to the 2000 version by Hank, however its missing the appregiator (the keyboard sound),There are free plugins for this for anyone willing to experiment. For the "String of Hits" version, well...like me...youll just have to wait till someone makes a decent BT. Im not mad about the 1990 version but I like Roger Paullsons new version to which he has a BT available. regards gary
